This burrowing frog with web-like feet lives in dry habitats, from forests to grasslands, commonly found after rain on warm nights. It has grey, yellow or brown, smooth or warty skin. Males call while floating in ponds, dams or ditches filled after rain, to attract a mate. Eggs are laid underwater in long strings wrapped around plants and can stay buried until the next rain. Tadpoles can take up to seven months to develop. Take care when digging around the garden, you may unearth these toads as well as Pobblebonk Frogs.
